Manufacturers like to advertise with the term "maintenance-free". But what does that mean in practice for roof penetrations? We take a close look and explain why TPU penetrations actually deliver on this promise.
What can go wrong with a roof penetration?
Common weak points in cable penetrations on the roof:
- Material embrittlement: UV radiation and temperature fluctuations cause inferior plastics to become brittle.
- Loss of seal: Shrinking or hardening seals lead to water ingress.
- Corrosion: Metal parts can rust at contact points and become leaky.
- Mechanical damage: Rigid penetrations break under stress from wind or snow loads.
Why TPU penetrations remain maintenance-free

No retightening, no resealing
For conventional penetrations with screw connections or sealants, regular retightening or resealing is recommended. NEXCAPE penetrations do not require this. Once installed, they sit permanently and securely, tool-free and installed without MC4 removal.
