Nelskamp Tiles: Widespread, but not always straightforward
Nelskamp is one of the leading roof tile manufacturers in Germany. Models such as the Nibra DS 5, the Finkenberger Pfanne, and the S-Pfannenziegel are installed on countless roofs. For solar installers, this means that those who professionally install PV systems will regularly encounter Nelskamp tiles.
The challenge with cable routing lies in the different tile formats. Nelskamp offers tiles in various covering widths and profile depths, which influences the choice of the correct lead-through length.
Which Nelskamp models are available?
The most common Nelskamp tiles on German roofs:
- Nibra DS 5: Large-format flat tile with a smooth surface
- Finkenberger Pfanne: Classic concrete roof tile with wide distribution
- S-Pfannenziegel: Curved profile, traditional appearance
- Nibra G 10: Engobed clay roof tile in large format
- Planum: Modern flat tile for contemporary architecture
Choosing the right lead-through length
NEXCAPE roof lead-throughs are available in three lengths, covering various tile formats:
| Length | Suitable for |
| 105 mm | Small-format tiles, beaver tail-like formats |
| 125 mm | Standard formats such as Finkenberger Pfanne |
| 150 mm | Large-format tiles such as Nibra DS 5 or Planum |
The covering width of the tile is crucial. The lead-through must be long enough to have sufficient overlap under the overlying tile and at the same time guide the cables neatly downwards.
Practical tip: Measure on site
Even if the tile designation is known, it is advisable to measure the actual covering width on the roof. Installation variations and regional differences can influence the effective width.
Installation on Nelskamp tiles: Here's how
NEXCAPE roof lead-throughs made of TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) are installed without tools:
- Lift or remove the tile at the lead-through point
- Place the roof lead-through on the batten and route the cables
- MC4 connectors do not need to be disassembled
- Reinsert the tile – the flexible TPU lead-through adapts to the tile shape
- Check overlap and done
Variants for every system size
NEXCAPE offers lead-throughs for 2, 4, and 6 PV cables, each with an optional PE channel for the earthing cable. This ensures a suitable solution for every system size on Nelskamp tiles – from small single-family house systems to multi-family houses.
