Creaton Tiles and PV Roof Feed-Throughs: What Fits Together?
Creaton is one of the leading tile manufacturers in Germany and Europe. Models such as Futura, Domino, Premion, and Ratio can be found on millions of roofs. For solar installers, the question for every installation is: Which roof feed-through fits the Creaton tile used?
Common Creaton Tile Models
| Model | Type | Profile Height | Special Feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Futura | Large-format tile | Medium | Wide cover surface, modern look |
| Domino | Flat roof tile | Low | Straight, flat profile |
| Premion | Reform tile | Medium | Classic shape, widely used |
| Ratio | Smooth tile | Low | Minimalist design |
| Magnum | Large-format tile | Medium | Fast roofing due to large surface area |
Challenge: Different Profiles
Each Creaton model has its own profile with different heights, undulations, and overlap zones. Rigid roof feed-throughs therefore rarely fit all models equally well. Gaps between the feed-through and the tile surface are the result – and thus potential entry points for rainwater.
The Solution: Flexible TPU Material
NEXCAPE roof feed-throughs are made of TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane). This material is so flexible that it adapts to the contour of the respective tile profile. This works just as well for the flat Creaton Domino as for the more heavily profiled Futura.
- Flexible TPU adapts to different profile heights
- No additional sealing material required with correct installation
- The material remains elastic and UV-resistant even after years
Installation Instructions for Creaton Tiles
Step 1: Lift the tile
Carefully lift the tile at the intended position. For Creaton models with interlocking, pay attention to the side locking mechanism.
Step 2: Position the feed-through
Place the NEXCAPE feed-through on the substructure so that the upper part of the base extends under the tile above it.
Step 3: Push cables through
Push PV cables including MC4 connectors through the feed-through. No removal of connectors required. For variants with PE, route the earthing cable through the separate opening.
Step 4: Lay the tile and check
Lay the tile back down and check that the feed-through lies flat and that the overlap with the adjacent tiles is correct.
Choose the Right Variant and Length
NEXCAPE offers feed-throughs for 2, 4, and 6 PV cables – each also with PE feed-through. The length (105, 125 or 150 mm) depends on the roof structure under the Creaton tile. All products are manufactured in Germany using 3D printing from high-quality TPU.
